As you have probably noticed, we have had a bit of a rebrand. This has happened for a number of reasons.
If you have followed our journey for a while, we have made a number of labelling and branding changes over the years. Each has reflected the next stage of our development and growth as a business. There were a few issues with the previous designs and most infuriatingly, major issues with label printing companies! Many label printing companies don’t actually print the labels themselves but outsource to one of the five major printers.
When we started the business, there was a small, independent printer in the next business unit and that worked fantastically for both businesses.
Unfortunately, the Dad wanted to retire and it was too much for one person to do on their own, so they sold to a larger company. The larger company did not want to work with such small firms and the attention to detail went out of the window. We bought some expensive printers and started printing our own labels but just couldn’t keep up with the various jobs within the business at that time.
We were pursued by a small family firm in Buxton, who were great – until they were bought out by a bigger company and the same thing happened again! We were then recommended to another firm by a beer brewer – to cut a long story short, they were just horrific! The Meadmeister answered the door to a cold call from a label company in the North East. They promised the world and that they did everything themselves – Mrs Mead was unimpressed, having heard it all before. We visited their site on the way to an event and lo and behold – we were taken around the factory and introduced to the studio department – they really were telling the truth! They costed our labels and the numbers worked – Mrs Mead was in heaven!!! We worked with Darren at Portfolio Design to redesign our labels to include the description for easy identification on the shelf and to be sleek and reflect the quality product inside the bottle. We think we have achieved this quite well and the feedback has been amazing. It’s only taken us nearly 13 years to get there!
