Jarl is a Scandinavian Chieftain or Noble man.
A suitable name for the force of nature that was Gordon Hannington, founder of the Historical Combat Company and owner of WyldFire. He was a champion and ambassador through our journey as a small business. Following a diagnosis of Testicular cancer in 2017, his post-op treatment was mismanaged and with the possibility of a new diagnosis of skin cancer, Gordon took his own life on 5th April 2019.
Originally a limited release in 2020, to raise money for Checkemlads/TesticularCancerUK, it became so popular we have decided to keep it as a permanent fundraiser and the charity will change each year. For 2022, we are supporting Battle Scars who provide support to anyone affected by self-harm.
Gordon loved chillies – the stronger the better! We are not so brave, however. So, Jarl’s mead has chilli flakes added after the fermentation process. This gives it an immediate hit, followed by a nice warming flavour, suitable for anyone who likes a bit of warmth with their alcohol.
FREE FROM: Gluten, Wheat, Fish, Dairy, Sulphites, Eggs, Gelatin – suitable for vegetarians
As this is a natural product, some hazing and sedimentation is likely to occur. Leave to settle in a cool, dark place and pour carefully. This a natural part of the maturation process and is not harmful to consumer or product. In fact, it will taste even better for it and it is why we use a decanter style bottle!
