Q Why are you so expensive?
A We pride ourselves on making REAL mead, as pure and natural as we can get it. This means fermenting honey - which is not cheap! Unlike some other mead producers, we do not use a base alcohol or a wine for the alcohol content and then add a small amount of unfermented honey and/or honey flavouring. Each 200L batch requires 100kg of honey and we only use, raw, unpasturised honey so the health benefits remain in the finished product.
Q Do you ship outside of the UK?
A No. Alcohol is a restricted product, subject to many licensing restrictions. Because of this, it is not possible to ship to individuals outside of the UK. If you are visiting the UK, you can get your order delivered to wherever you are staying and enjoy it whilst you are in the UK or take it home with you. If you have friends visiting you from the UK, they can have it delivered to their address and take it with them in their luggage. Remember to follow the rules set by your airline and the destination country.
Q Why do I have to register for an account?
A Alcohol is a restricted product and we have a legal obligation to not sell to under 18s. This means we need to keep a record of the date of birth you supply and you have to tick the 'I am over 18' box and agree to our terms and conditions which state you know you are committing an offence if you buy when you are under 18 or for someone who is under 18. Without this, we are not meeting our legal obligations and would not be allowed to trade online.
Q Can I get my order delivered to an alternative address?
A Yes. Enter the delivery address in the 'postage address' section of the order form and we will send it there!
Q I missed my delivery! What can I do?
A You should have a card with the depot telephone number and consignment number on it. Call the depot and get it re-delivered on a more suitable day. You can also collect from your local depot.
Q Do you have a shop we can buy from?
A We don't have a shop as such but you can buy direct from us here at the Meadery. Please TELEPHONE BEFORE you arrive to ensure we are here - 01204 694538. If we are trading away, the Meadery will be closed and we don't want you to waste your time. Alternatively, check out our 'Events' page to see when we will be coming near to you or our 'Stockists' page for outlets closer to you.
Q Do you do Brewery Tours?
A Not at the moment. We need special insurance for this and it's REALLY expensive. Also, because we are such a small company, it interrupts production. We figured that, given the choice, our customers would prefer to drink the mead we produce rather than come to see empty plastic fermenters......
Q Do you take card payments?
A Yes. We can take card payments in the meadery or at any events we are trading at. We take most cards but not AMEX - sorry! We can also take orders and payments over the telephone.
Q Is your mead 'free from' or 'suitable for'....?
A All of our Meads are suitable for vegetarians and are Free From - Fish, Dairy, Sulphites and Sorbates. Being Free From Gluten, Wheat or Caffeine is flavour dependent. We include ALL of our ingredients in the description of each of our meads so you know EXACTLY what is in each one. Mead is not considered to be Vegan friendly due it containing honey.
Q Do you do wholesale?
A Yes. We do supply to trade customers both licensed premises and resellers. However, we take our reputation seriously and reserve the right to refuse to supply any event or trade customer. Please contact us for more information.
